Where it says, "And yes, Flickr is for photos. With some exceptions, it's OK to post other images, but..." I get uncomfortable with the 'but' because (I'm sure it's my Catholic schoolboy training coming out here) I don't want to cross an ill-defined limit. I don't understand the "with some exceptions" part, or why this is a rule. I'm not tuned-in to any controversies about this. I thought that maybe there was discussion on the Flickr forum that addressed it, so I had a brief look the other day. I found an amusing thread about the "creepy guy" guideline. I guess I must be secure in this general area, because that one didn't bother me. I haven't used Flickr for anything but photos (with a couple of exceptions) so I don't have any direct personal concerns with the content guidelines at this point. My discomfort is probably more about me than Flickr.

Chris, with the linking-back part, your comment clears that up for me. I wasn't sure if they were looking for an explicit text link, which would have been a pain.

Doug-- what part of the community guidelines are you talking about? They wouldn't explicitly have a blogging mechanism that posts linked images if they didn't want them, and all I can find is that it says to make sure photos from flickr are linked back to their photo homepage (as it always has been)?

The "graphics other than photos" thing seems to be OK as long as the intent is OK-- many people put screenshots, presentation graphics, etc.. and I've never heard of any problem except when it was a for-profit venture that was flooding an account...
