Explanatory Note #2

Too much is going on here to keep up with it all. I had something else in mind today, but when I logged in I found a message from the WordPress development folks telling me that the upgraded files I installed the other day had been hacked and possibly corrupted. So I spent the better part of this afternoon fixing that – except that now the feed is broken.

When the blog was being read by only a handful of people many months ago, I was curious to see how many were subscribing, so I set up an account at feedburner and installed a plugin that would redirect my blog feed URL to the feedburner feed. It used some htaccess file magic that I don’t fully understand. I also pasted some junk in the template files.

I wish I hadn’t done that now. Nothing is wrong with having a feedburner feed. The problem is that the way I set it up, whenever there’s a feedburner problem, no feeds are updated.

To try to clean things up, I’ve cleared the htaccess file of any lines with the word “feedburner” in them. I deactivated the plugin. And I’ve switched templates (again), trying to make a clean start. And of course, I’m waiting for the good folks at feedburner to respond to my SOS email.

OK … Doug … maybe I’m wrong … but since I visited your blog about three times today because I linked to it as an example as a teacher blog on a wiki page I have for the presentations I did today at the Nevada State Technology Leadership Conference … and this is not what I saw earlier.
BTW – you may find some comments on your class blog from said conference.

Sorry for the aggravation. It’s tough when you’re an independent soul, and you have to rely on others more than you are comfortable with. Thanks for the heads up on your native feed – it’s reading on my blog again. Think I’ll count on you from now on, not that second party.

OK – so I said I might make some changes during spring break – so I changed my masthead and added some links and I might do more later. I made changes mainly because what I had was just very plain – and this isn’t much more than that – if I had my choice I would probably use a photo background for my masthead, but I’m not sure how to so that .. so I did this in the interim.
