Not only that, but they need to remember that journalism is about reporting ALL of the facts (not just the facts that are going to draw big ratings), and taking the time to collect those facts instead of going to press (or air) without checking out every angle of a story.  Breaking a story first seems to be more important today than getting it right the first time (or even the second or third time).  This American Life last week (episode 344) had an excellent example of this in act 2 of a story called "The Competition."</description>
